AW celebrate Audi aluminium appointment

AW REPAIR Group is delighted to announce its appointment as an Audi Structural Aluminium approved repair centre.

The appointment follows the success of a senior technician attending a stringent two week welding and joining technique course in Germany in order to obtain the correct skills for the approval.

Back in the UK he has undergone a series of welding tests which were sent away for x-ray examination.

“There is only a 50 percent pass rate for the welding tests so we are absolutely delighted and very proud of Rob’s achievement,” said AW Repair Group’s managing director Andrew Walsh.

“This is great news and another significant step forward in our business strategy to complete our aluminium specialist repair statuses to repair new generation vehicles.”

Added Rob: “The Audi R8’s space frame chassis construction is a typical example of where these techniques are absolutely vital to restore the vehicle to pre-accident standard and is becoming commonplace in new generation vehicles.

“I would like to thank AW Repair Group for the opportunity to expand my skill set in this area allowing me and my colleagues to competently repair such prestigious vehicles which we are seeing daily here at the Sleaford, Lincolnshire branch.”

This accreditation follows another AW technician who recently successfully completed the Jaguar LandRover aluminium welding course, which, like Audi, included complex overhead welding and joining techniques.
