Congratulations John

John Barnett Senior ATA VDA
We are proud to announce that AW Repair Group’s long standing South Yorkshire team member John Barnett has today been informed he has passed his ATA VDA re-accreditation (Automotive Training Association Vehicle Damage Assessor)

John is the first VDA (Vehicle Damage Assessor) in the group to go through the re-accreditation process and I am sure you will all join me in congratulating John on this achievement.

The accreditation was implemented by the British Standard Institute (BSI) PAS125 programme to licensed bodyshops in the UK in 2007/8, to ensure those who are assessing vehicle damage are fully trained and competent to do so on today’s modern and complicated vehicles. The accreditation has to be re-achieved every three years to ensure VDAs are aware of the latest repair methods and technological changes in construction. John is therefore one of the first batch of previously accredited VDAs to go through the re-accreditation process.

John is the longest standing employee at our South Yorkshire site. Joining AW in 2003, John has held two positions within the company, one as a VDA and the other as a Workshop Controller.

Delighted with his achievement John had this to say, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank AW for the constant support throughout my career. The whole team has been behind me and it’s a real pleasure to be able to continue to work with AW.”

Ladies Day Attendees Donate Generously.

At AW we would like to extend the below thank you to the attendees of our Ladies Day. It was a great success and without your generosity we wouldn’t of been able to raise the amount of money we did. We also want to thank Breakthrough Breast Cancer and will continue to support them.

AW Ladies Driver Day.

photo 5In advance celebration of Mother’s Day AW Accident Repair Group hosted a Lady Driver’s Day in association with Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.

Throughout the day guests enjoyed interactive activities which not only provided a fun filled afternoon but also enabled guests to improve their driving skills and road safety knowledge.

The day included a car crash simulator with occupants experiencing the hydraulic movement simulation and in-car smoke while a Traumatic crash is played on DVD screens.

On a lighter note ladies competed against the clock for the title if Fastest Brands Hatch lap on a racing simulator, day dreamed in beautiful prestige cars and were also able to relax and wind down with onsite beauty treatments and Body shop At Home stall.

A personalised vehicle check was carried out in each guests car and a estimating demo showed the ladies how repair costs are calculated using the safest methods tested by the Thatcham Research Centre – home of the crash test dummies.

A short presentation also showed guests how to exploit insurance company loopholes to save money on both future premiums and repair costs.

The event was supported by the whole community with generous gifts being donated by local businesses for competition winners and raffle prizes in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Video highlights of the day can now be found on our YouTube channel, or click below to go straight there.

Upskilling Our Team.

At AW Repair Group this week, we have been upskilling our frontline staff across all our sites. The training was aimed to give the team the skills to identify individual circumstances and offer relevant products that will save our customers money during the repair journey and future motor insurance and maintenance costs. Susan Marot, from Marot Associates is an expert within the sales and training industry and delivered an interactive workshop which engaged and challenged AW Repair Group’s current processors.

AW are constantly looking to adopt and implement changes which will see improvements to the customer care and service provided. However, do all customers know the full benefits of using AW? This question was highlighted by Managing Director Andrew Walsh and became the real focal point of the workshop.

Discussed throughout the group, which was made up of Vehicle Damage Assessors, Customer Liaison Advisers and the marketing team, the question later turned into, what’s the best way of promoting the benefits of using AW?

Susan explained that by finding out the needs of your customers, you can tailor a bespoke service to suit. This theory coincides with the core values at AW, in that every customers situation is unique and will be handled in the most delicate way possible. With the ability to discuss the products and services confidently, the team at AW can now more clearly outline the benefits to the customer.

We are looking forward to further development training with Susan, with workshop two taking place later this month.

Growing your own

AW guarantee the future of the industry with the support of the Volkswagen group paint and body apprenticeship training programme. By passing vital skills to a new generation, AW secure the flow of highly skilled manufacturer trained technicians. At AW we like to call this process ‘growing your own.’

James is our latest recruit to join us from the apprenticeship training programme; he will undertake a three year block release scheme at AW as well as spending time at the VWG national learning centre in Milton Keynes. James will attend the NLC for one week of training every six weeks, and earn a salary whilst he learns his trade.

Sleaford branch Manager Steve Hoe had this to say, “I am delighted to welcome James to AW, here he will quickly develop and harness his skills under the guidance of myself and our team of manufacturer trained technicians. I would also like to thank Volkswagen group for delivering such an advanced apprenticeship programme, which is highly regarded as the best within the motor industry.”

James pictured above with Simon, hopes to follow in his mentor’s footsteps. As a 16 year old, Simon joined AW as an apprentice panel technician, now with more than 14 years of experience and qualifications which include VWG, Porsche and Jaguar LandRover approved training, Simon is a full structural aluminium trained technician providing an exciting insight into what the future could hold for James.

Good evening all! Thoroughly enjoyed today at the Showcase, Market and Sell Road Show – MANSFIELD/ASHFIELD. We hosted a competition in which we asked people in attendance to guess the car manufacturer a particular wing belonged to.

Those who answered correctly will be entered into our PRIZE draw! If you think you know and for your chance to win, have a look at the attached picture and tweet us your answer. Good luck!

AudaMobile helps AW streamline vehicle assessments.

Following the launch of AudaMobile, a successful trial has led to the vehicle damage assessors here at AW ditching their clipboards and equipping their IPad’s. This revolutionary paperless mobile tool has created a technological change to the automotive repair industry and AW Repair Group are set to take full advantage of the benefits gained.

A key advantage is that assessments are carried out in front of the customer, the interaction naturally is increased and the customer openly engages in repair decisions. Here the vehicle damage assessor is able to develop a relationship, highlighting damage caused and work which will need to be carried out. This enables the estimate price to become more accurate and the customer is made aware of the costing’s there and then.

Through AudaMobile, AW have not only increased the estimate conversion rate but also the efficiency of the whole process. AW Repair Group are able to schedule and order the required parts early so the vehicle is returned to the customer in a prompt, professional manner and to its original state.

The core to AW’s success is their constant drive and demand to exceed their customers’ expectations. Embedded into their culture is to be never content, always challenge processors and keep on top of the technology curve. By implementing the use of AudaMobile they are able to maintain these values and build upon them.

AW invest in the future

Doncaster teenager Joe Stevens has proven that work experience does pay after being offered a full time position with AW Repair Group.

Joe, a Year 11 student at De Warenne Academy, took part in a fortnight’s work experience last year, and has now accepted a job offer from Yorkshire branch manager Ian Pearson.

Mr Pearson said:  “I was very impressed with Joe, his attitude and work ethic was exemplary and I am delighted to welcome Joe to the AW family.”

Joe is due to finish school in June and will enjoy a short break before commencing his apprenticeship in the fast track workshop on July 14.  Joe will spend the majority of his training on site at AW, gaining valuable on the job experience. He will also be required to study at the Doncaster GTA one day a week, renowned for providing high quality automotive apprenticeships.
