IMPORTANT MESSAGE Re: Accident Compensation Nuisance Calls

[Update at 25th February 2015]

Scam Telephone Calls – Faulty Repairs

Several sources have identified a scam currently being conducted on bodyshops across the country in relation to rectification works.

As reported by RMI NAB and the VBRA, bodyshops are receiving telephone calls where the caller poses as a customer, their agent or an insurer. Their call concerns repairs which have been completed at the bodyshop.

AW Repair Group announce fourth site opening

AW Repair Group is delighted to announce the expansion of their geographical coverage with the opening of a new hi tech bodyshop in March.

AW Repair Group’s new site in Markham Vale, off the M1, will be open in March.

Located in the developing commercial zone known as Markham Vale, off junction 29a of the M1 near Chesterfield, the 15,000sq feet site is ideally placed to expand the group’s geographical coverage into Derbyshire neatly linking the Rotherham (South Yorkshire) and Newark (Nottinghamshire) sites.

Managing Director Andrew Walsh said: “We have been looking for a fourth location for some time and Markham Vale perfectly fits our plans. With immediate access to the M1 this central corridor is now thrown wide open to AW Repair Group.

“We selected the site carefully to provide the quality bodyshop space and environment associated with AW Repair Group’s existing sites and of course we shall be carrying forward our synonymous branding.”

Installation of equipment is well underway including:

● Two 8-meter Junair Spraybooths complete with energy packs, LED lighting, iSystem touch control and the uniquely patented quad drying system;

● 12 module Minden Dust Extraction complete with energy saving auto remote switch off and integral three phase for multibay operations;

● 3 bay Blackhawk Korek in-floor pulling system complete with ramps;

● Car-O-Liner Bench Rack 5000

Energy saving devices such as LED lighting and radiant heating have also been included.

The group is an existing user of the Autoflow Bodyshop Management System and will be implementing Autoflow’s recently launched Grouped View allowing single click access to all branches to complement the Group Hub and First Response Team based at AW Repair Group Nottinghamshire.

“The First Response Team has worked extremely well over the past 18 months to maximise group capacity and resources,” said Andrew. “Indeed it helped us to map out the best location for site four which will also be a drop off centre for our specialist structural aluminium repair centre at the group’s Lincolnshire headquarters.” The site is structural aluminium approved for Land Rover and Audi.

New administration staff have been working within AW Group since October to learn the processes and procedures and understand the company’s ethos of providing a customer experience beyond the simple notion of expected quality crash repair.

“We are very pleased to have the support of our work partners, re-joining forces with former partners and now be in a position to work with new customers needing consistent quality accident repair and customer care within timely SLAs in the Derbyshire and central corridor localities,” continued Andrew.

“We are also pleased to broaden our partnership with the PPG team and our recently appointed distributor partner LKQ Coatings.”

“The site will be accredited with the new British Standard for vehicle damage repair BS10125 and we look forward to seizing the opportunities that Markham Vale will bring,” he added.

Camera crews focus on AW site

The prestige headquarters of AW Repair Group was host to PPG Refinish and their film crew on Friday.

AW Repair Group and PPG Refinish have a relationship spanning the years and our clean, modern manufacturer approved bodyshop was the obvious choice in which to shoot their latest promotional film.

Featuring site general manager Steve Hoe, PPG’s major account manager Simon Boulter and AW technicians, the film will be used to promote the strong partnerships PPG hold with their customers as well as inspiring and motivating their internal sales team using testimonials from PPG staff and their customers.

The film will include the PPG product in use at our prestige repair centre showing colour matching, spraying, plus the support and process training offered by PPG to AW technicians.

Managing Director Andrew Walsh commented: “We were delighted to be chosen to promote PPG partnerships and products in action. Our Lincolnshire HQ and prestige repair centre was purpose built in 2012 and often attracts great comments from surprised customers as they relax infront of skyTV or use the wifi lounge.”

While you wait repairs

Ever wondered about the work that goes on behind the scenes when your vehicle is being repaired? We are about to go through the many stages of a ‘while you wait’ repair.

Click here to view our video of the while you wait repair process.

First, the vehicle is prepped for the repair process – removing the wheel and the wheel-arch lining

Using a cross-pein hammer and a dollie, the dent is gently teased back to its original shape. The technician must keep the manufacturer profile during this process, checking the lines every step of the way.

The damaged area is sanded down

The filler is then applied precisely over the damage. This is then fully cured within seconds using our mobile Drytron for speed and accuracy.

filler process

Next, the filler is sanded down. We will only ever use a maximum of 1mm of filler to avoid shrinkage and corrosion to the panel.
Next, the stopper is applied, again this is fully cured using the latest drying technology.

The stopper is carefully sanded down ready to be primed.

We identify the colour using a paint spectrometer which will give us a precise formulation for an exact match.

The panel is de-greased in preparation for the primer coat.

The vehicle is masked-up in the spray booth and the etch primer is applied. This provides maximum adhesion to bare metal and corrosion protection.

The primer is carefully applied and cured using the Symach Robodry.

Once the temperature has cooled the primer is sanded to enable the basecoat colour to adhere to the panel.

post prime process

The basecoat colour is now applied and cured using the Symach Robodry. It is essential that the basecoat is fully cured as all moisture must be removed. This ensures a longer lasting overall finish to prevent paint flaking and corrosion. (All paintwork must be carried out in a controlled temperature environment)

Once the basecoat is fully cured, the clear-coat lacquer is applied. This is a very important stage in the process as the lacquer must be applied evenly, this will create a perfect showroom finish.

The panel is machine polished and the vehicle is valeted ready to go back to the customer.

A day in the life of Pudsey Bear

2014-11-14 12.21.15

For Children in Need 2014 we invited Pudsey down to AW HQ for a fun filled day!

From arriving the ladies loved him! Although the weather took a turn for the worse, he stuck in there and was estimating using Audamobile, bonding, prepping panels, spraying, polishing and even had time for a coffee and some calls!

Here’s what he got up to …

Lincolnshire Police Interceptors with LRSP

Popular TV series Police Interceptors have been filming the work of Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership (LRSP) for episodes to be screened in the New Year.

And as a close partnership of LRSP, AW Repair Group was delighted to go along to see the film crews in action.

Infact AW’s Jade Johnson took part in filmed demonstrations of LRSP’s road safety programme.

Writes Jade:

Firstly we were put into their state of the art skid training vehicle and with the flip of a switch the suspension changes and throws you into a 360 spin! The skid training vehicle simulates driving on ice, slippery roads and aquaplaning. During the training we learnt how to handle tricky situations and build our driving skills, in a fun and friendly way.

Next we experienced a car crash in LRSP’s crash car simulator, which really hit a nerve and really makes you think what you would do in that situation. We got to take the trusty Peugeot 205 GTi for a spin, which AW Repair Group repainted for LRSP in March 2013, which was great fun! Finally, we took to the PlayStation for a timed challenge against each other.

Whilst we were having fun on these exercises we were in a controlled environment and it’s easy to forget that this could really happen to you when you are least expecting it. But I would really recommend the driving training courses that LRSP offer, it’s a skill that will stay with you for life and something we wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn without the fantastic work by Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership’s team.IMG_2914

As well as driver training courses LRSP deliver their hard hitting 2Fast2Soon production to schools around the region.

Gliding Evening with Porsche Club GB

Niel GliderTwo of AW Repair Group’s vehicle damage assessors have been flying high with Porsche Club GB this week.

The club’s annual visit to Trent Valley Gliding Club saw members swop their wheels for wings and Lincolnshire branch VDA Niel Harmston went along to join the fun.

Coincidentally his VDA colleague Dave Bieniasz is an avid glider and member of Trent Valley Club and was happy to share his passion with both Niel and Porsche club members.

Commented Niel: “Following the winch launch we reached approximately 1200ft. After release from the winch, Dave demonstrated the flying controls and explained how the glider can stay airborne using lift from thermals. We even took over the controls and flew for a short while!”
